After making some life changes, and realizing it’s time to get my shit together, I felt it would be a perfect time to start a blog. I wanted to share my excitement in the hopes that my journey would inspire others to live a positive, more balanced life.
My thought was to have my blog up and running in a week. Boy was I wrong! I’ve been following Just a Girl and Her Blog for a couple of years now and signed up for her Seven Day Blog Start Up. She made it seem so easy. Which I guess it is…but not for me. I had my niche and knew how I wanted everything to look, but I am definitely not tech savvy. Though I was pessimistic; I followed Abby’s instructions for day 1: made a domain name, registered a host, downloaded WordPress, and wrote my first post (which isn’t this one). And…then I was stuck. I selected my theme and wandered around aimlessly hoping I would understand what the hell I was supposed to be doing. Luckily my wonderful friend Rafal Duraj is a graphic designer and offered to help guide me. He showed me the ropes, and after launch and playing around with WordPress a little more it’ll be pretty straightforward from here on out.
I’m also lucky to have some pretty talented people in my family. My brother in-law Zach Nash took my photos for the blog and Hannah Lamanes had me camera ready with make up. The photo shoot has been the most fun part of the blog so far. Who doesn’t love having their picture taken?! Even at the beach when you’re half-naked and the temperature is 2C…brr!
So if collaborating with the right people is the key to success, I guess I’m on my way! And maybe this blogging thing really isn’t as hard as I thought it was going to be.
