As I reflect on 2016 I’ve come to realize that my year was pretty amazing! I was never one to make New Year’s resolutions or even set goals. I just wandered through life expecting good things to happen to me, and then getting pissed off and resentful when nothing changed. Last year I made the most progress I ever have in my adult life. Both personally and professionally, the improvements were drastic. This got me quite excited and made me finally recognize that I am the only person in this world that will make my life different…and better. Yes, I will meet people that will help me with many avenues and be there to provide me with guidance and support, but unless my thoughts and beliefs are true then nothing will change. I know that it seems simple, but the problem is we have been programmed for so long to think certain ways, that sometimes it’s a challenge to realize the real truth about how incredibly awesome we are. A lot of the things I was given in 2016 had an overlapping impact on my overall goals, and if I’m going to put my time into something, killing two (or more) birds with one stone is definitely the wise way to go!
As many of you know from reading my previous posts, I have had my ups and downs with mental wellness since my third child was born in 2014. In 2016 I really focused on improving my outlook on life, myself, and how I view others, opportunities, and experiences. Working out and committing to a transformation challenge helped me so much in this area. I completed two body transformation challenges last year which taught me how to incorporate health and fitness into my every day. The last challenge I did was a group challenge. Here I found my purpose: to coach! I always wanted to be a motivator but felt I lacked the confidence to actually inspire. This challenge had me coaching my friends, and providing them with the advice and motivation they needed to achieve their health and nutrition goals. This experience has led to my evolving into a Holistic Health and Nutrition Coach. Man, I’m really excited for this journey!
Also partnering with USANA had an insanely positive impact on my mental health. The amount of personal growth that is provided for associates is in abundance. The constant positivity is so good for the soul! I’ve learned so many different techniques to help manage the tough times, and simplify the tasks of everyday life and running a business.
I’m a stay at home mom, and have found this description to be a major burden for me. I struggled with the guilt of being home and focusing on my family, or going out and working on a name for myself. In 2016 I stopped with the excuses and constant wonder and launched World Balance. It was a huge moment for me. I knew I wanted to make big changes in my life and find a way to truly live with balance. Documenting my struggles and achievements in the hope to inspire those around me that may be experiencing the same feelings was the main reason for my decision to write a blog.
Not only did I launch World Balance, but as mentioned, I also partnered with USANA Health Sciences. Here I can focus on helping people maintain a healthy lifestyle with the aid of pharmaceutical grade nutritional supplementation. USANA also provides me the opportunity to be an entrepreneur and work at my own pace with the support of a team. This is the key element I was searching for in so many of the jobs I applied for and thought I wanted over the past few years. Through this journey I have met some amazing and inspiring people. I have helped so many of my family and friends feel and look better. I have learned how to develop a life plan to help me achieve my personal and professional goals. All of this is priceless, and I am so grateful to the universe for bringing these opportunities to me in 2016.
Compliments of Marie Forleo, I asked myself the following questions:
- What did I do, create, or experience in 2016 that I’m really proud of?
- What mistakes did I make that taught me something? What lessons did I learn that I can leverage?
- What am I willing to let go of?
These questions put my insights and goals for 2017 into perspective. I really enjoyed doing this exercise, and I encourage you to do it as well. You may be surprised by how wonderful your year truly was.
After this exercise, I looked at how I will manage my time and what areas of my life and business will take priority at this time. I then determined my WHY. Why have I chosen this journey for me, what’s my motivation? What purpose will it fulfill for me? This is a big statement, and may result in extreme emotion for you.
Finally, I looked at my 2017 goals and how I’m going to achieve them. I know that I need to look at each week and set the priorities that will help me achieve my end goal. This will make my goals more attainable as I have broken them down. I also have come to understand that I can’t allow the distractions to take over my time. There are so many things that distract us from completing the simplest of tasks resulting in anxiety, stress and robbing us from being the best person we can become. I will not allow this to happen to me anymore, and neither should you!
I’m very excited for 2017 and the wonderful things it has in store. I believe that I will live the balanced lifestyle I so desire deserve!
